We Remember ...
More than sixty years ago, my grandfather heard the
news. He joined almost immediately. He became a Marine and fought in the
battle of Saipan. He was shot at, leaving my grandmother desperately by her radio listening for news as she was stationed on a base far from her home.
The sacrifices he made are remembered, honored and cherished. He did things for our country, that was attacked, that gave him nightmares for the rest of his life.
He was a simple farmer from northwest Tennessee who fought for his country because it was the right thing to do.
He did it for THIS country because of the events that happened at Pearl Harbor.
We live in a different time now.
Bring our soldiers home from Iraq, President Bush.
I have personally seen young people buried, Mr. President. I have seen the haunted eyes of National Guardsman who left their families to fight. "Stay the course" has brought nothing but death and no real resolution on the "War on Terror."
Iraq is not the same thing as Pearl Harbor and World War II, Mr. President.
