  942,900 Political Ads and Counting
I was going to bed, but this caught my eye and it's mind boggling:

Nielsen Monitor-Plus counted 942,900 political ads running between August 1 and Oct. 15. That doesn't even take into account the last week before the Nov. 7 election, when advertising is at its heaviest.

"We don't see anything to suggest the trend is not going to continue," said Brian Lane, senior vice president at Nielsen Monitor-Plus.

The biggest factor in the number of ads going up is the spending by the national party organizations, with Democrats sensing they could seize control of the House and maybe the Senate during the midterm elections and Republicans playing defense.

When I think of all the money spent on political campaigns when some people are having trouble paying their electric bills, it just amazes me.

Talk about shock and awe.

Comments:
I'll be so glad when the election is over because the phone calls are getting out of hand. I'd be tempted to NOT vote for anyone I got one of those danged calls for, but then there'd be nobody to vote for.

In the past week, I got calls from Bill Clinton AND Rudy Giuliani. Yeah, I don't know how that happened either. My mother's only getting one-party calls...

I feel the same way about the trashy roadside signs. I'm ready to declare 'no votes' for all of them I see.
