Newscoma Has Moved

You Spin Me Round And from our spin files comes two different persepectives, or are they similar. You decided and all you win is a free trip back to Newscoma. Our first candidate (no pun intended) is Newt Gingrich who says this in the The Seattle Times:

Former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich says America is in World War III and President Bush should say so. In an interview in Bellevue this morning Gingrich said Bush should call a joint session of Congress the first week of September and talk about global military conflicts in much starker terms than have been heard from the president.

"We need to have the militancy that says 'We're not going to lose a city,' " Gingrich said. He talks about the need to recognize World War III as important for military strategy and political strategy.

Gingrich said he is "very worried" about Republican's facing fall elections and says the party must have the "nerve" to nationalize the elections and make the 2006 campaigns about a liberal Democratic agenda rather than about President Bush's record.

And now from Hillary Clinton who speaks out from the state she served as first lady from The New York Times although Daily Kos disagrees with this. You go read both yourself and make your own mind up:

“We are wasting time,” the senator told a group of Democratic women here, on part of a two-day swing through a state that could provide an alternate hub to New York if she starts a national political campaign.

On recent weekends, Mrs. Clinton has been traveling the country and raising money at an extraordinary pace. But the trip to Arkansas this weekend had a more sentimental feel, reuniting Mrs. Clinton with her former political allies and giving her a platform to broadcast her more centrist background.

After speaking to the Arkansas Federation of Democratic Women, Mrs. Clinton was scheduled to visit the first home in Fayetteville that her husband bought for her, and where they were married.

Go on over to FastCheck and see what your favorite, or least favorite politicians are talking about and how "real" it actually is.
Comments:
So Newt (what real man has a name like that?) thinks it would be a good thing to officially declare a World War III is underway?

Exactly how does he have any remaining credibility? And why, after being forced to resign as House Speaker, do reporters call him by that title?

Not sure, Joe.

sorry, just ranting against the man - and i use that word in the broadest possible terms.

all rhetorical questions. i'm going back to my bunker now....

No, I'm with you. Let us rant together.

sigh. well, ok ...
i just recall to well how Newt gave the GOP the ideas for making end-runs around the constitution, such as enacting term limits without a constitutional change. his style was to limit debate in Congress, to ridicule dissent.
then there was his nationalization of state political races, which minimizes representation of state residents and loads power, much of it focused on raising money, onto the national political parties. Tom DeLay learned much from Newt.
his ten-point "contract" was a hodge-podge of hot-topic words and phrases derived from polls and again it diminished Constitutional regulations, empowered authority for parties and not individuals.
yeah, i'm ranting i know, but the man is/was bad news for the state of our nation and was a massive failure.
now, after some time has passed, he's supposed to be viewed as an 'informed expert'?
just chaps my ass, Newscoma and sorry to go on about it here.
guess i need to do my own post on how dangerous his views are to the politcal sytem.

And there's talk he's running for pres.
Scary stuff.
