Little Things Mean A Lot
Rodent Queen just told me a story that I think has value.
A man who is serving in Iraq is keeping up with his son, who is playing in Martin's Cal Ripken Southeastern Regional Tournament. He has been watching the results on the internet.
He wanted the Parks and Rec Director, a guy named Dennis Suiter, to know that he read his son was on one of the winning teams. He asked Dennis to tell his child that he knew of his son's win.
And this brought tears to my eyes, because he didn't get to see his son play.
The Cal Ripken tourney is important to small communities like Martin. It brings in a lot of money into the city coffers.
But on a more important note, it does much more.
I hope this man, whose name I do not know, to come home soon, so he can be with his family.
I hope they all come home soon, but word is some of the guys who just got back from Iraq a few months ago who live in our community are going to have to go back.
That's what we're hearing.
