Jim Bryson is looking to inject some Hollywood into his gubernatorial campaign.
The Republican state senator from Franklin has hired Fred Davis, a California-based ad producer, to consult on his campaign against Democratic Gov. Phil Bredesen.
Davis runs Strategic Perception Inc., which was part of the team that in 2004 created President Bush's campaign commercials portraying Sen. John Kerry, the Democratic nominee, as a waffling, Washington insider.
Authors Kris Mayes and Charles Kelly began their 2000 book "Spin Priests" with a discussion about "Hollywood Fred" Davis, and what they described as his ability to "charm a woodchuck out of a deep burrow."
Makes me sort of laugh. I am so becoming more Libertarian. I'm not digging anyone right now currently in office, so I've been reading. I'm not as advanced as Aunt B. over at Tiny Cat Pants, who was doing this months ago, but hey, I'm a late bloomer. What this has to do with Jim Bryson? I have no idea.
So, I looked up more on Libertarianism, and this sounds about right. I guess I'm a liberal Libertarian. Of course, my niece Bear calls it a liberal librarian, which only could mean I like to read racy novels written by Lynn Cheney and Scooter Libby, I guess.
NOUN: 1. One who advocates maximizing individual rights and minimizing the role of the state.
The Challenge of Democracy (6th edition), by Kenneth Janda, Jeffrey Berry, and Jerry Goldman
Liberals favor government action to promote equality, whereas conservatives favor government action to promote order. Libertarians favor freedom and oppose government action to promote either equality or order.
