And At A Rally Too ... Not such a good idea for a candidate for any office.

Republican gubernatorial candidate Mark Albertini was arrested for public intoxication following a Thursday night GOP rally in Knoxville, sheriff's officials said.

Albertini spent the night in the Knox County jail but was released early Friday, sheriff's officials told WNOX-FM and The Tennessean newspaper.

A message left with the Albertini campaign was not immediately returned Friday morning. State Republican Party officials and the sheriff's department also didn't immediately return calls from The Associated Press seeking comment.

The party event at Elizabeth Lane Farm in Knoxville was billed as an opportunity to hear Republican U.S. Senate and gubernatorial candidates speak for five minutes each about their campaign goals.

So there you go.

Comments:
This was just plain stupid on his part in addition to everything else wrong with driving intoxicated. I just don't know what goes on in people's heads. If you KNOW you're running for public office, and you KNOW you're under intense scrutiny, you'd think one would KNOW BETTER than to drive intoxicated or do anything out of line for that matter.

We are all in agreement.

I mistakenly assumed that he was arrested driving (pulled over, so to speak) and it appears that he wasn't. Not that it excuses his behavior in any way.

John: I have just read your blog about this, and I'm with you, I think it would be prudent to reserve judgment until all the facts come out. Still, it sure isn't looking good and this will probably taint his campaign anyway.
