Eminent Domain In The News Eminent domain isn't just a problem here in Weakley County. Dozens of states are going through their own issues, and folks aren't happy. I used to work for an owner of a radio station where I served as news director who said you will only get people involved if their kids, churches or land was messed with. Although I always found his view somewhat simplistic, I can't help but believe that he may have had something. We have lost tons of plants, people, who were making a liveable wage are know settling for a lot less money for less challenging jobs. And now, entities are trying to take land. Great. Supreme Court Justice David Souter was recently put on the spot about this. The Miami Herald has more. It appears citizens didn't like the way he voted on landgrabbing so tried to facilitate his home being seized. They aren't going to take his house, but the battle grabbed headlines. Eminent Domain isn't going away, and I have a feeling we are going to be hearing a lot more this issue in the coming weeks.
