Today Is Faron Young Day

I adore celebrity stuff not affiliated with Tom Cruise or Brangelina.
It's like the Porter/Dolly thing. Love it. The boxer wearing thing would make my whole day.
It was the fun part of living in Nashville. I saw Dolly Parton at Rivergate Mall about twenty years ago sans make-up. Celebrities are left alone most of the time, as it should be. If I'm allowed to go out shopping looking like a goat, then Dolly should too. (And NO, she didn't look like a goat. She looked lovely.)
Nashville was fun. I miss living there.
The thing is, I think my favorite celebrity sighting has to do with Faron Young.
When he owned, ironically, The Young Building, I would love to ride up the elevator with him. He was an old curmudgeon and talked non-stop in this surly manner that sort of terrified me.
He usually was in the cups, but he was nice to me and I liked him. Saw him fight a tourist once.
Good times.
A woman who works in the business next door to the paper tells me tons of Willie Nelson stories. Now, I love me some Willie and I love listening to her tell stories of when she worked at Emerald and where he recorded. I'm a bit older than her, and I used to work at a studio named Stargem which is no longer around.
We have tales.
And we ain't telling all of them.
So I declare today Faron Young day for no other reason than I want to.
I credit
Sista Smiff for leading me down memory lane. She has much better stories than I do.
Much better.
